When I was told where we were going today I wondered what in the world it would be. An aquarium maybe?
Nope.
Since it is threatening rain today the adventure needed to be indoors and turns out the kids love the little indoor play area at the local mall in Carlsbad. It has a sea theme and the kids call it the "Fish Park". As often happens our girls were to meet Jane and her mom and little brother there. For the worst of the pandemic Clem and Jane's families had decided to "bubble" together and so have become quite close. They still meet for play dates at area parks and playgrounds regularly.
Today they had an absolute ball playing in this little play area where shoes are verbotten and the floor is soft and spongy.
The "Fish Park" seemed the busy part of the mall. I suppose, like many malls these days, the pandemic and online shopping have thinned the crowds. As a matter of fact their impressive Santa with a couple of helpers seemed right lonesome. Clem and Brannon had walked on ahead of us and past Santa but as we followed Santa beckoned to Ruthie to come talk to him -- no photo requirement. She loved him and was given lots of time and soon Clem was back and taking her turn talking with Santa about her Christmas wishes. That lonesome Santa gets my wholehearted endorsement. He's a good one.
I didn't get any good pictures to accompany this post; maybe Sheila or Brannon will have one for me to use. Meanwhile here is one stolen from the internets.
