Armuchee Elementary Outdoor Classroom and Trails

From Brian Barcomb's Facebook:

Tribe family/Armuchee Community, did you know about the outdoor classroom and trails at #ArmucheeElementarySchool. Another great reason to be part of this community! Come see it 2morrow night 5/5/16 @ Mother/Son Night at AES!

Gleaning Facebook: Cherokee Cabin Rebuild

Michael J. Burton, you are an amazing guy! Wow. It is a wonder to have the cabin reconstructed to this level so quickly. Congratulations!
Michael Burton and Steve Craw and other Cave Springers are resurrecting this cabin from the early 1800s. It was hidden for many years under siding right there on the Cave Spring square.

Gleaning Facebook: Shadows at Arrowhead

Shared by Michael Burton:
Terrell Shaw has been working with my kids since 1967. Proud to see him give positive experiences to Joseph Smyth, my grand son, and my son, Miles Burton. Three guys always working to help little kids.

I had a great time today as I was accompanied by these two “shadows” from Coosa High. They were a great help before, during, and after the visit of two Model Elementary second grade classes to Arrowhead. It was a beautiful day made even better by this good company!

Michael J. Burton Three great fellows in my book.

Gola Burton Thanks for share in the photo and your knowledge

Howard Smith You should not be embarrassed by the fact you need caregivers at your age.

David Marlin Rains Don't let them get you on a skateboard Terrell.

I had nice polite responses from Grandpa and Pa Burton and Mama Gola. Then Howard Smith chimed in with: "You should not be embarrassed by the fact you need caregivers at your age." And David Martin Rains with: "Don't let them get you on a skateboard Terrell"

Gleaning Facebook: It's Hillary!

I think we have our Democratic nominee. She will be the first major party presidential nominee who is also a female. She has a record of great achievement as a lawyer, first lady, senator, and secretary of state. She has spent her entire adult life as a proponent of practical progressive politics. She is rated by the fact-checkers as the most honest of any of the five remaining candidates of the two major parties. I am proud to support Hillary Clinton to become our next president!
For the Democratic Party and the American people Hillary Clinton's victories make this a very good night.

PBS: Clinton could lose every remaining contest and still win the nomination

Comments:

Howard Smith
Her remarks tonight were her best campaign speech yet. I also note, since numbers matter, far more people voted in the Democrat primaries than the Republican primaries in each of these five states.

Terrell Shaw
Wow! Hillary has won 4 of the 5 primaries tonight. She received many more votes than any of the Republicans.

John Lee
She did phenomenal tonight! Pretty sure Trumps comments about women tonight (Did you see Christys wifes shocked expression?!) just cost him the election. No doubt in my mind that she will easily do well in the GE.

Hillary beat Trump's vote totals in all five states including RI where Sanders beat her, but she easily beat Trump..Trump trailed BOTH Democratic candidates in total votes in MD, CT, and RI. I wish someone in the news media would notice that.

Melanie Collette Babb
Sam and I were amazed at the vote totals in New York. We have been noticing this for quite some time.

Laurie Craw
Let's just hope she can turn out the vote to beat Trump and that means a whole lot of "I LOVE Hillary" and "Stop Trump" voters together. As crazy as Trump is, beating him won't be a slam-dunk for Hillary. Again, I worry about the passion deficit. If too many disheartened Sanders voters in swing states sit it out, she could be in trouble. She's going to have to make them some new and specific promises she intends to keep. Sanders' under-30 young supporters don't have a history with Hillary or "old" feminists and don't owe her any loyalty for all her battle scars. To them, she's just "the establishment." Of course, I'll vote for her, but to no avail in Georgia. A handful of states will decide it.

Terrell Shaw
Actually, against Trump, Some polling experts say GA would be in play.

Howard Smith
I am not writing GA off yet, either...although a long shot.

David Matheny
Hillary has to connect better with the Voters...Trump, whatever foul a person/candidate he is, has definitely connected with his supporters.

John Lee
I'd say 2.5 millon votes more than Bernie makes her pretty connected. And she's doing better than Obama did at this point in 2008. #Imwithher

Laurie Craw
Not sure those raw vote totals indicate a true "connection." Bernie is a scary candidate to many ("socialist") and he certainly lacks the old Bill folksy, personal charisma. He's a prophet and prophets are prickly. He's turning over the tables of the money;changers in the temple. (No, I don't think he's "the messiah.") He's pointing the way, not promising instant gratification but more hard work and a longer journey to reach the goal. Maybe the youngest voters are naive and idealistic, but without our young "dreamers" where would we be? Maybe we who are nearer to the end than to the future should listen to them. Hillary definitely should.

Gleaning Facebook: Senators, Do Your Job

The Constitution mandates that the President fill vacancies on the Supreme Court with the advice and consent of the Senate. Senator Isakson refuses to even hold hearings. Appalling behavior. This has been threatened before, but this is the first time our Senate has so arrogantly disrespected the people of the United States. Call him.

Deborah Lake Dawson
I am soo over this man! He is a disgrace to our system and needs to be replaced asap!

Anne Edwards Langley
I have, several times! He says he is not doing anything until after the election

Terrell Shaw
Let's drive him nuts. This is so wrong and he knows it.

Ken Freshour
Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution provides that the President "shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint... Judges of the Supreme Court."

Terrell Shaw
Amen.

Ken Freshour
It never says they must bring to a vote a nomination from the president. That is what controlling Congress means just like a Democrat controlled Congress.

Terrell Shaw
It is unprecedented and destructive to our system of government for the Senate to refuse to advise and (at least) hold hearings. Then vote him up, or vote him down. To stonewall is to disrespect the fact that our President is our President for his full term.

Ken Freshour
I am afraid any respect he gets will come from someone other than me. He is president and was duly elected twice but I don't care for him, his wife or his "legacy." Out of respect for the office I won't say more.

Comments:

Anne Edwards Langley
I sent Johnny Isakson an email. He did answer it , but he said he wanted to wait until after the election to do anything.

Sam Burnham
It's called The Biden Rule for a reason: https://www.washingtonpost.com/.../ea8cde5a-d9b1-11e5...

Terrell Shaw
Joe threatened. He was wrong. This is not a threat, it is a big stonewall right now. It is wrong and has further gummed up our nation and stymied the expressed will of the American people, again.
