Time Machine: Kaleidoscope Trip to Anniston Museum c. 1982

I led trips to the Anniston Museum of Natural History many times during the eleven years that I taught in the Kaleidoscope program for gifted children of Floyd County Schools. I taught this wonderful group of children, I think, in the early eighties. If anyone can give a more exact date I will appreciate it. The comments below are taken from Facebook when I posted these pictures there on February 8, 2010.

"Sad Tonya" strikes again!...Hilarious. I love this one.

Tonya Brooks Walsh
Gee! I must have been soooo much fun to be around! NOT! The funny thing is, I still remember this trip and I could have sworn that I really enjoyed it, however, you can't tell by looking!

Matt Henderson
Nah...You were just always a bit of a goon.

I always liked that side of your personality. This picture illustrates it perfectly. And I remember that trip the same way as you do...I always had fun hanging out with you gals.

Kendra L Harris
Omg! How hilarious! I recognize everyone except the guy, and he looks totally familiar...

Matt Henderson
That would be me, Kendra...Had the "Eight Is Enough" haircut goin' FULL THROTTLE....[sigh].

Kendra L Harris
haha! Too funny! pastedGraphic.png

I like your reference to Jodie Foster also.. pastedGraphic.png

If we only knew our pics from the past would come back to haunt us on facebook.. lol! I've seen a few of me, also... thanks Mr. S!

Tonya Brooks Walsh
Wow, what a miserable looking child I was! I guess I didn't believe in smiling!

Kendra L Harris
Haha, you sure didn't look happy to be there.. lol! But you have always been gorgeous!!

Terrell Shaw
I though Kendra was talking about the young fella between Matt and Laura. He resembles several of my Kaleidoscope kids, but I just can't quite place him.

Matt Henderson
I just figured he was one of your McHenry kids...Seemed nice enough...Quiet, though. pastedGraphic.png

TamaraBarry Tidwell
AAHH my sweet little boomy

Matt Henderson
The hairy guy does look a bit like "Boomy", doesn't he?

Lester Brookshire
Wonderful kids! Best in the world! That is my completely unbiased opinion!

Terrell Shaw
Not well acquainted with the hairy kid, but I sure think the world of the others! Even the little scamp in the blue shirt.

Laura Connelly
Who are we to argue with that? LOL!

Janie Bunch trying on ceremonial mask.

Matt Henderson

Matt Henderson
Seriously...This is just embarrassing...I'm sure I must have been in the midst of some sort of mental episode at this point.

Kendra L Harris
Pretty sure its PES or PMS... Laura has on her Pepperell shirt, and I think she only went there.... not completely sure about everyone else.... gosh, everyone looks so familiar... someone tag these ppl! lol I'm too old to remember this far back!

Terrell Shaw
I thought it was just Pepperell, but it could be a mixed Kaleidoscope group from two or more schools.

Laura Connelly
That's Matt Henderson in the Dodgers shirt.

Matt Henderson
Holy cow! Oh, the memories...Thanks, Mr. Shaw! Is it just me, or do I look like a young Jodie Foster in that picture??? Good Lord...I could've at least smiled. pastedGraphic.png

Matt Henderson
Ha!...Thanks! But, you're my "aunt"...You HAVE to say that. pastedGraphic.png

TamaraBarry Tidwell
He has such pretty dimples! You are still a cutie!

Matt Henderson
Awright...You and Gayle just need to hush.

Tess & Tigger

Bill & Cathy Whittle gave us Tess and Tigger in 1982 (don't know the date). Tess had a litter of kittens the next year. We named those kittens after characters from Gunsmoke. Miss Kitty, born the same year as Brannon, stayed with us for 18 years. The kittens are playing in a window of our house at 608 Cedar Avenue, in Rome, Georgia. I scanned these shots in 2010 from old pics. .
