Gleaning Facebook: Someone Else's Problem

On our late morning walk around and into the beautiful "blighted" (if it is blighted it will be by the five incumbent commissioners running this year!) 80 acres. Sheila & I saw only a little obvious wildlife of the fauna sort - one deer fled before us with its white flag flying, a hawk in a confrontation with some crows, the usual assortment of cardinals, mockingbirds and sparrows, a bunny, squirrels... but here I am lying right in the middle of what may one day be a very noisy "up-scale" apartment complex, examining some very recent beaver sign. The teeth marks are obvious where the little guy gnawed through this small tree.

This area will not flood often. Probably only about as often as the Ledbetters' Riverbend Mall did, once or twice a decade? Minor inconvenience since huge quantities of fill here would push much of that water elsewhere. Someone else's problem, huh?
