I have been collecting political items since I was a teen. In the hobby “jugate” items, all other attributes being equal, are especially prized. Those are the buttons, pins, or other items that include two pictures, usually the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates — like McKinley and TR, or Ike & Nixon, or LBJ & HHH.
Yesterday or the day before I was looking at a coloring sheet download that is available on the Biden/Harris website. It had drawings of Joe Biden’s two beloved dogs, Champ and Major. I thought of the Bo buttons from the Obama campaigns and Socks buttons from the Clinton campaigns and thought, “There ought to be a Champ and Major jugate!”
So I messaged my Facebook friend, fellow collector, and button creator Herb Shemwell of Sunflower Buttons with the idea, and — “Voila!” — he produced a new Biden "Jugate" in about 24 hours. Biden supporters and collectors are already lapping them up at the Political Memorabilia Exchange FB group. Here it is:
