Time Machine: Sixties & Seventies

Here are thumbnails of a Facebook album of Sixties and Seventies pictures added to my FB wall since 2009, followed by comments on that album. Some of the comments are hard to associate with particular pictures.

Using the time machine to store these thumbnails and comments here on the last day of the seventies. <smile>

 Terrell Shaw

I can't stop scanning! Our friend Richard is celebrating his RETIREMENT today! So I've included a few Hootenanny pics. No Hoot is really a Hoot unless Richard and his guitar are there.

Gola Burton
Amen!!

Terrell Shaw
Better stop now, D'Birch.

You need an apostrophe there: "it's". Oh, my! We do have some work to do. Your assignment is to read "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves". <grin>

Christie Hufstedler Boyd
I love "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves! And I love your old codachrome pictures too. I'm not sure about the spelling of codachrome though.

Christie Hufstedler Boyd
I remember now! It's Kodachrome!

Terrell Shaw
These are very miscellaneous, David. All of the above is the ony reasonable answer. Yes, some involved flasbulbs, some the later flash cubes, ... who knows! I've been scanning a lot of Kodachrome slides, but also prints, and even some negatives of various sizes.

Rhonda Ingram Bramlette
Love all the pics!

Christie Hufstedler Boyd
Terrell, do slides scan the same way photographs do?

Terrell Shaw
My scanner has a 16-slide tray that fits on the flatbed adn you take off a white top cover that you use with regular photos. Mine is an HP Scanjet G4050.

Laurie Craw
AHHhhhh...That's MY Santa elf with the impish smile and head too fat for the hat. That would be 1979 in California. Your visit meant so much to us, TS and Sheila.

Terrell Shaw
I think I may have already posted the ones from of 1979 visit, but they cropped up when I tried to recover the SD card that I dunked on the canoe trip.

Anita Stewart
Aw....

Tim Shiflett
The 1970's? I recall working for some young folks, back then.................................

Joan Shaw Turrentine
Thanks for another stroll down Memory Lane this morning. I'm not sure why these pics popped to the top of my newsfeed, but l'm glad they did.

Terrell Shaw
I added a few pics to the album today. Sheila showed me how to scan pictures on our PRINTER! AND send them directly to my iPhone. That's just too easy. I may be doing even more old picture mining fo a while.

Dawn Hoke Kidney
Still so pretty

Anita Stewart
Sheila was (and still is) a beautiful lady. The guy with the mustache isn't too bad looking.....

Lydia Trimble Peters
These are great!!!

Craig Brewer
I started scanning a few years back and now have over 48 gigabytes of pics.... Hounded all of my relatives.... It's addicting

Terrell Shaw
I feel your pain, Craig. I have pictures on multiple hard drives, zip drives, floppy discs, etc. spanning 1988 (when I bought my first Mac)-present... I wonder if I will ever have them organized. The pics themselves are from family albums going back into the 1800s and stuff like this album. Overwhelming. But I do love looking at the old pics. May even have a young Craig Brewer in there somewhere.

Craig Brewer
Lol, you prolly do.... I have been overwhelmed at times also. Very interesting to put into context where we came from. Also to look back on where we've been these past 50 plus years..... Memories....they can be scary at times... Like, did I really do that.

Howard Smith
Those were the days my friend.

Time Machine: Daddy at Pepperell

In the Spring of 1979 my father, Charles Shaw, visited my sixth grade classroom at Pepperell Elementary to show pictures and mementos from his trip to the Middle East. I do not have the exact date.

Time Machine: Exploring Nature at McHenry

Matthew Smart and Gina Nicholson at McHenry School 1979

Comment from the future 2010:
Jennifer Smart Merritt
Even when this pic was a thumbnail, I knew it was my bro. The gamecock T is from our cousin Van Westmoreland. Memory lane...

Bill Darby
Wow - I remember this trip - wow. Great times.

Bill Darby
I'm pretty sure Michelle Cline is in this pic but I don't think she is on Facebook

Bill Darby
Maybe Flora Duncan-Parker?

Terrell Shaw
Is that Michelle just behind Kathy?

Terrell Shaw
Yes that's Flora... I didn't know she was on Facebook.

Bill Darby
I think that is Michelle in brown sweater - Flora in red sweater

Bill Darby
I have this as an original photograph somewhere with date and some names.

Bill Darby
Michelle Cline - unsure of married name. I will repost this to my page.

Terrell Shaw
I keep pulling things like this out of boxes. I may get my junk in order if I can live another 68 years.

Tonya Tumblin Trapp
Nice! Yes, Michelle, Flora, Philip Hawkins, Kelley Gray Harris, Bill Darby Lori Treadaway Collett, John Spratlin, Krista Evans, and I believe Darin in front? That was a great trip!

Tonya Tumblin Trapp
Oh, and Leticia!

Philip Hawkins
Wow! That was a long tme ago! And oh how many times I have been back there in recent years. I also recognize Krista Evans, Leticia Ward, and Erik Rudd.

Tonya Tumblin Trapp
Erik!! yes kept thinking Darin.....

Philip Hawkins
And in the strange way the world turns, I understand that Kathy Steinbruegge has been a mentor to my wife in recent years.

Tonya Tumblin Trapp
She was my son Zac Trapp's principal at Pepperell!

Kelley Gray Harris
Lol. I remember this trip!

Bill Darby
What year was this? Tonya Tumblin Trapp?

Tonya Tumblin Trapp

Terrell Shaw
My (and Kathy's) first year in Gifted Ed. was '78-'79... so y'all were our guinea-pigs? Bless your hearts.

Bill Darby
Please note the notepad I'm carrying - I was such a nerd.

Terrell Shaw
Ken Fuller didn't take office as a State Rep till January '79, so that's the earliest could be..

Anita Stewart
I remember the wonderful trips that we used to take Kaleidoscope students. Gee, Ken and Buddy looks sooo young. So do Kathy and Terrell.

Bill Darby
I remember Kaleidoscope

Terrell Shaw
Look young? We were young! I was 32. Of course this was before the program was named Kaleidoscope.

David Crowder
It's not me. I think this was a class or two ahead of me. Great pic through pastedGraphic.png

David Crowder
Yes I am. I celebrate my 30th year in the biz next year pastedGraphic.png

Juanita Mull
I see my brother, State Rep. Childers.

Terrell Shaw
Buddy Childers is one of the finest public servants ever to represent me at any level. No one worked harder or more sincerely to represent the interests of his constiuents. No one can be an effective legislator without compromise. He dealt with the tension between high principle and need for resolution as well as anyone I know.

June Barron
You look like a baby!

Terrell Shaw
Which "you" is that?

--- Must be me?

Frankie G Moore
Good picture
