Gleaning Facebook: Led or Lead?

 Public Service Announcement

The verb "led" is the past tense of the verb "lead".
The noun "lead" is a homophone of "led" but it means a soft (and toxic) metal.
Today, we lead the campaign to remove lead from Flint's water system.
Yesterday, we led the campaign to remove lead from Flint's water system.
I understand the confusion! He reads the red book today AND read the red book yesterday. That's English for you.

John Paul Schulz very good, Mister Shaw.

Cornelia Gamble I have often wanted to make similar announcements! Thank you for your bravery!

Terrell Shaw Pet peeve #237,396. pastedGraphic.png

Right up there with using an apostrophe and an "s" to indicate a plural. Kinda foolish to get snooty about such things since I see typos and outright mistakes in my own posts often!

Cornelia Gamble However these things appear more often and are more accepted every day!

Terrell Shaw Another pet peeve is the absolute refusal of many folks to appropriately add an "s" to words that end in "st". One Baptist, two Baptists One ghost, two ghosts One terrorist, two terrorists

Cornelia Gamble AMEN!

Dennis Wipper I always blame my too smart phone for making unintended changes.

Ellen Mana'ar Johnson I have to really work to find and type an apostrophe on this device

George Barton I really get upset when folks use a preposition to end a sentence with.

Howard Smith Are you board today...I meant, bored...

Ro Rob Thanks for you're input. The led-lead thing really bug me to.
