"He Shot It Down, you $?%^&$#*"

I first learned that some Republicans put party above country in the 1990s. I remember listening to the radio and hearing elected Republican leaders, with no evidence, accusing President Clinton of political motives as our pilots were in the air over Iraq. I was shocked at that baldly political response to an active American military mission.

Things have gone from bad to worse within the so-called Republican Party of 2023. While a Chinese surveillance balloon was in the air above our country and the President had already said he would deal with it appropriately, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, second in line to the Presidency himself, posted the following to Twitter:

This public baldly political attack on our President is unforgivable. This little man, who so blatantly sold himself to attain his current position, who has refused to speak out against even anti-semitic Republicans, attacks our President who had already approved the proposed response by our military to shoot down the ballon. Stephen King, the outspoken novelist, responded as I might be tempted to:

Looking out for the sensibilities of my readers, I have smudged-out Mr. King's crude metaphor for Speaker McCarthy.

We just have to accept the fact that the current Republican leadership will condemn the President regardless of what he does or says and without regard for what is best for the republic. Can you imagine what the so-called Republicans would have said if the president had overruled his military and shot down the balloon over populated areas?

I am absolutely sincere when I say, I cannot understand how any patriotic American can align him/herself with the current Republican Party.

President Biden, thus far, is perhaps the most successful first term president of my lifetime. Lowest unemployment in sixty years. Many more jobs created than by any recent president. Great legislative achievements in the first two years despite a very narrow margin in the house and a tie in the Senate. Strong leadership of the free world against the Fascistic Putin. He seeks bipartisanship but acts in what he sees as the best interests of America always. He has and will, of course, make mistakes, but I trust him to always put American principles first.
