May Clocktower Day

I enjoyed giving the 'up top' tour of the City Clock today from 12-2 pm. Here are a few pics:

Selena Tilley gives the downstairs tour which includes a lot of history of the hill, the tower, the clock, the clockworks, and the murals around the walls.

...then folks climb 107 steps up the spiral stairs around the outside of the tank...

...to emerge into the bright sun at the top.

... and a terrific view of our beautiful city and the lush ridges and valleys of our region of Georgia. Today I was thrilled when two old friends appeared, sisters Nina Burton (Berg) and Bitsy Burton.

Gleaning Facebook: Today

This is the first Mothers Day of my seventy-five years when I have no way to visit with or even call my Mother. Just two days before her stroke she posed with the first bloom on these hibiscuses I had planted in her front yard. How she would light up when I walked in. My parents were not perfect, of course, but their love for me and my siblings was unconditional and sure and lit their faces. How I miss my mother.
