Gleaning Facebook: Sautee Weekend

 What a treat Saturday and Sunday have been for me this week. I spent them at the Stovall House B&B at Sautee Nacoochee, GA.

Cousin Brenda, at least two of the tellers I was with have been involved with Renaissance Fair -- Andy Offut Irwin and Cynthia Rintye -- right down your alley! I'll bet you and your hubby would get a big kick out of the Big Fibbers Festival. Y'all oughta come up. March 19-21.

I copied this picture of Mildred's. This is renowned poet Byron Herbert Reece who was sitting in Mildred and Phillip's house when this was snapped.

Mildred is one of my very favorite poets. At ninety-four she led me across the pasture to watch her great-grandchild (and another 11-year-old) riding Joey and jumping obstacles and cantering around the ring.
Notice the necklace. On their first anniversary Phillip gave Mildred a bracelet. Later she passed it along to a daughter. Later it went to another. Recently a daughter (or granddaughter?), had it taken apart and each big link was hung from a chain and Mildred and several of her descendants now have these necklaces as reminders of Phillip and Mildred.
