Here are five of my very favorite old family photos…
|
My Great Great Grandfather Thomas Wesley Wilkerson with his dog. Nance's Creek community near Piedmont, Alabama. This picture has always intrigued me. It is one of my very favorites from my grandmother's three albums. Thomas' son Charles Rueben Wilkerson was the father of my grandmother Lillian Ophelia Wilkerson Shaw. -----------

My mischievous father, Charles Columbus Shaw, in "Botush" Creek, I think. I was grown before I discovered that "Botush" is properly spelled "Boar Tusk". Of course this could be in the Yellow River that also runs through Milstead. I first saw this picture when we stopped by to see my grandfather's sister Annie Hicks (or was it Miriam Reeves?) at Snellville. Several years later I was thrilled to learn that it was not lost but had been scanned and shared by my cousin Annette Winningham. |
Deborah Shaw Lewis commented: I do not remember ever seeing this pic. I see Joshua Hearn and Andrew Lewis in this.

My great great grandmother, Mary Whaley Wood and her cow. |
