Sheila and I, with a couple of hundred fellow citizens, had the privilege of honoring our veterans at Myrtle Hill today. An absolutely gorgeous morning.
The Model band warmed up the crowd with patriotic music. The speaker was Ed Carr, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack of December 7, 1941. His first hand description of that fateful, infamous day was chilling, but also inspiring. There was an outstanding rendition of our National Anthem, the laying of wreaths by a dozen or more groups, a release of doves, a twenty-one gun salute, and of course, taps.
As always it was great to see old friends, former students, and just to watch those heroes, of all ages, many in uniform, honoring their comrades.
