What fun it was last year this time to get to spend quality time with Clementine, Ruthie, and our new little Susannah. This post was about the fun Ruthie and I had that day with my hat....

Our little Ruthie (Ruth Irmgard Carlin) is such a joy. She is two and very capable of brief meltdowns. She knows well the significance and power of the word "no," as all her age seem to know. But oh, that smile is never far from the surface.
I have learned that my hat is a great toy for her. Her mood can often be lightened by an opportunity to make off with it. She never keeps the hat for long, though. She finds great satisfaction in replacing it to my noggin and firmly adjusting it to her own taste, before, often, snatching it away again.
Today she and I had some "Grandshaw and Ruthie" time in the playhouse she shares with Clem.
