The Trinity Choir Christmas Program 2022

Click the picture to see a video recording of the service. I think it sounded better in person! <smile>

It has been a blessing to me to be a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church choir since 1982 -- forty years, though I did take some time off in the early 2000s. We have an unprecedented team leading us right now. Kam Malone is our director and his wife, Debra, is our accompanist. They work so well as a team preparing for our rehearsals and leading us in our choir performances. A bonus is that Debra's preludes, postludes, and offertories are so beautifully played they will swell your heart and motion your eyes.

We have about 20 active choir members right now and most are very dedicated. We are far from professional but I sure do enjoy our singing and feel Kam and Debra get the most out of a bunch of amateurs. If you are looking for a church home come visit Trinity United Methodist. And just after the new year would be a great time to join our choir. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30. None of us are professional musicians. Only a few of us can read music to any great extent. So folks of all experience levels are welcome! We enjoy each other and we enjoy our singing. So come on.

Today was our annual Christmas program and it was good to have a nice crowd in person in the sanctuary. Church attendance across the nation has never regained pre-pandemic levels and Trinity is no exception. But Christmas programs still draw larger audiences.

We sang:

Sing We Now of Christmas -- Arranged by Mark Hayes

Lo, How a Rose Eer Blooming -- Arranged by John Leavitt

Away in a Manger -- Arranged by John Leavitt

What Child Is This. -- Arranged by John Leavitt

They Had Joy -- Arranged by Tom Fettke

Sing We Now of Christmas -- French carol, arranged by Gordon Young

God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen -- Arranged by James Koerts

O Holy Night -- Arranged by Jay Althouse

Readings were interspersed with the songs.

Anyway I just wanted to post this to remind myself of this beautiful experience of singing these songs in my home church in 2022. God willing I will be back next Advent season at Trinity United Methodist Church for another similar musical worship service with these friends.
