Independence Day 2009

David and Gregg set up the smoker about noon.

Carol Shaw Johnston: precious child!
Ruth Baird Shaw:
Beautiful Haley is my youngest grandchild! She is a sweetheart...wonderfully thoughtful for one so young...

Brannon's friend Alan pitches in to string up very aggravating lights.

Every time the lighting crew got another section lighting, another section quit!

Dealing with loose connections and tangles -- Christmas in July.

Haley, Jessica, Phillip, and Steve explore the levee.

Lillian and Brian helped me squeeze lots of cars into the crevices between our trees and shrubs in the front yard.

The struggle with lights continues...

Like Lillian's sideways look to the camera. So cute!

The master checks the meat temps..

When will Facebook add an aroma app?

Ruth Baird Shaw: Terry and Sheila's annual July 4th celebrations are fabulous! David and Vicki bring over their meat smoker and prepare delicious barbecue for the 75 to 95 people who have attended the last three years. We have a ring side view of Rome City Fireworks on the levy behind their house...

Five Boston Butts, two racks of ribs, chicken legs, and a foil-wrapped chunks of potato. Even more meat this year.
Josh Hearn
wow, that looks really tasty.
Terrell:
David outdid himself!! It melted in the mouth!

Katie looks on as Vicki takes a turn at the smoker...

I think she was checking on the taters.

Uh, oh! She's spotted the camera...

Gola Burton: I love the fourth at the Shaw's house!!

Katie Shawtypical facial expressions

Terrell: I think this is a nice pic of you, Bo. You can make it your first FB profile shot!

A few of the early arrivals last year.

2010 note: Here are a few of the early arrivals at last year's celebration. We grieve that we have lost three dear friends this year, each very suddenly: Cleve Burton (blue shirt at the right) and Wint Barton (suspenders), and Charles Reichel.
