Gleaning Facebook: CRBI Burwell Paddle

"Check out photos from CRBI's Burwell Creek Floodplain Paddle in Rome today. There's actually a developer that wants to put a shopping center in the middle of this 50-acre floodplain. Some spots where stores would be built were under more than eight feet of water." - Joe Cook

The site of "Outparcel E" was under at least eight feet of water.

The site of "Outparcel C" was under at least six feet of water.

The site of "Shops O-P-Q" were under more than six feet of water.

And to think this is normal, well deeper than normal since they widened the road. Ive lived here almost 50 yrs and ive seen it much deeper.the more they fill in, like those old battery acid lakes just up stream, the more it backs up. Ive seen it up to the houses in Celanece before.

This photograph taken at the site of "Outparcel F" shows that floodwater at this location is more than six feet high.

The site of parking areas on the northern section of Citi Center's main parking area were more than three feet underwater.

Interesting! You all looked a little chilly though. How long has this area been flooded?

I'm not sure - It was pretty high for at least a week. I've been meaning to go check because I noticed the rivers are starting to go back down.
