Lunar Eclipse

Our houseguest, Ryan Hill, remined us that there would be a lunar eclipse tonight and a quick trip to the porch showed the full moon rising beautifully over downtown Rome and shining down on our old house between the neighbors pecan and our magnolia.

My iPhone camera is amazing but it is not the best choice for astonomical photography. Here are my pictures in order as earth's shadow nibbled at the bright disk.

Just a bit of the lower left of the moon's disk is gone in this first iPhone picture from the porch.

Now the eclipse is almost complete.



Finally we climbed the levee to watch the moon turn reddish. Gradually mist moved in and it was barely visible. Then clouds and it was gone.
