From Christie Hufsteter Boyd:
----------
The Etowah and Oostanaula
I paddled on the river today,
Just my friends from CRBI and me,
It was not like any other,
It was unique.
The Etowah was like a lake,
The Oostanaula was in flood.
We saw so many things today,
We'd never seen before,
We saw the fairgrounds and tower,
The lower parking lots,
The Etowah was like a lake,
The Oostanaula was in flood.
We rode higher than ever before,
In our canoes and kayaks,
It looked so very strange,
There were no washes for,
The cows to bathe,
The Etowah was like a lake,
The Oostanaula was in flood.
We paddle up Silver Creek,
Through mats of sticks and trash,
I found a ball there, and brought it back,
Alan found a beaver stick,
The Etowah was like a lake,
The Oostanaula was in flood.
We didn't paddle to Heritage,
We went to Bridgepoint Plaza,
The last 25 yards was exciting,
The last 5 feet, was hard,
There was much mud slipping,
And gaiety all around,
The Etowah was a lake,
The Oostanaula was in flood.
