Gleaning Facebook: Debi & Lum & Ieula

Three bits fro Facebook today:

----------

Happy birthday to the fifth of the seven Shaw siblings, Sister #4, the woebegone little waif below... now a mother of five and grandmother of five, soon to be six, and beloved Miss Debi to, seemingly, half the kids of Rome.

Details from the Midway Methodist Bible School about 1955 — Sibling 5 ------------------------ Second cousin Annette Daniel Winningham posted this picture of my Great Grandfather on Ancestry. I hadn’t seen it before. My memories of Columbus “Lum” Turner Shaw are vague and are after his stroke. I have seen several pictures of him as a young man — a studio picture with his pretty wife and two young sons and another of him with his violin. I am glad to have this nice picture of an older, but well and dapper Grandpa Shaw.

---------------------

A terrible picture, but it is of two beloved folks: my grandmother Ieula Ann Dick Baird (left) and her older sister Cora Dick Duncan. I have fond memories of listening to these two sisters with a third, Molly Dick Law, tell family stories while they crocheted. I think this is taken at a Baird Family reunion at the Salem community center near Porterdale GA.

This picture was taken at Fairburm Methodist Church about 1968 but three of these people have Milstead ties. Rev. and Mrs. W.D. Spence (at the left) served Milstead Methodist Church. Rev. Spence was much revered by the Shaws of Milstead. Rev. Charles Columbus Shaw (my father at right) was born and raised in Milstead. I do not know the name of the man with glasses who was a layman in the Fairburn church. Nor do I know what this presentation was about.
