Time Machine: 1931 Watkins Memorial Directory

This Directory of Watkins Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, South in Ellijay, Georgia was found among my Mother's (Sarah Ruth Baird Shaw) papers in 2024. I assume Mother and Daddy (Charles Columbus Shaw) acquired it when Daddy was pastor at Watkins Memorial Methodist Church from 1958 until 1962. In 1939 the Methodist Episcopal Church South united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Protestant Methodist Church to form The Methodist Church. Then in 1971 The Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to become the United Methodist Church as it is today. The congregation is now known as Ellijay United Methodist Church and is located on a different campus. The church building pictured in this booklet is still there but is now used by a Catholic congregation.
There is no date noted for the publication of this church directory but since it lists the pastorate of Rev. W.B. Hughes as 1930-1931 I presume this was printed in 1931.
