Georgia's official motto, as I learned from Miss Matilda Brown in fourth-grade and as you can see on the state seal above, is "Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation". Georgia has the unique opportunity to restore moderation to American politics for the next two years, at least.
Our Senate is much more polarized than the general public. If you are a moderate Republican or an independent, or a moderate or liberal Democrat, please vote for a 50-50 Senate. We cannot continue with a Senate that refuses to even consider house bills or Presidential nominations.
With a 50-50 Senate, organized by Democrats, out from under the thumb of Mitch McConnell, the moderates of BOTH parties will have much more influence and the Senate WILL once again have compromises and bipartisan negotiations.
Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue are shameless, willing, it seems, to say or do anything, ANYTHING, to retain their seats in the Senate where they have enriched themselves beyond the huge fortunes they already had while blocking Covid relief to ordinary Georgians. Good heavens, these two, at the bidding of Donald John Trump, still refuse, six weeks later, to simply acknowledge that Joe Biden is our president-elect. They signed on to Trump's nonsensical attempt to overthrow the votes of all-Georgians and to, without an iota of evidence call for the resignation of Georgia's REPUBLICAN Secretary of State. The Supreme Court struck down that stupid suit, by the way, unanimously --- even Trump's three appointed justices refused to consider such a laughable suit.
In 2020 we are still putting up with inane charges of "Communist!", "Socialist!", "Extremist!" Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower put up with the same baseless charges. I was called "Communist" in 1968 because I supported Hubert Humphrey! I have watched Raphael Warnock for several years and met him twice. He is a Christian, a patriot, a community leader, a pastor, and certainly NOT a "Marxist" or "Socialist" or "extremist" as Loeffler likes to label him. And Jon Ossoff got his political start as an aide to John Lewis. He is NO extremist. Both are moderate to moderate liberals by current American political standards much like our president-elect, and Ike, Harry, and FDR.
I read the vicious giant postcards my 97 year old mother receives EVERY DAY thanks to the Mitch McConnell PAC and various and assorted PACs and the Republican Party themselves. It is insane. These folks who okayed trillions in debt for a tax cut for the wealthy call the rest of us extremists for wanting Covid releif for ordinary folks. Those whose policies would throw millions off health insurance are claiming baselessly that we want to rob seniors.
Given Loeffler and Perdue's extremist suit (above) and their consorting with Q-Anon folk and white supremacists, etc. it is particularly laughable for them to hurl "extremist" mud at their opponents.
Please, please, help restore the middle in American politics. Vote for an end to the McConnell era of nasty, partisan extremes. Give the guys in the middle a chance to work some deals. None of us will get everything we want, but we will once again have a functioning republic. Vote for a 50-50 Senate. Vote for Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
