Back when we were trying to make a living with our Shaw LaserPress business we had frequent dealings with Connie Conn. Connie was a mover and a shaker here in Rome. She was always involved with the Chiaha Festival and Heritage Holidays from, I think, their very beginnings. And when we were just launching our Out & About Georgia's Rome magazine sje was involved in developing the old Battey Machinery buildings into a small downtown enclosed mall of small shops. At one of her events there we bought this delicate blown glass swan Christmas ornament from Connie. I never expected it to last this long, but somehow this beloved and fragile, thin-necked bird has managed to make it through about 32 years of Christmases and several cats, two dogs, and Brannon and Lillian.
That same year we won a door prize at an event there at Connie's place, and this cornhusk angel adorns our mantle at Christmas time ever since.
